Hello everyone!
This Week’s Playlist - Season 2, episode 10.
A very special guest today, per request of Pierre, for a very Jazzy rotation this week.
And another 5 songs from my weekly rotation
See you next week.
TL;DR: I'm running a musical newsletter with a new guest sharing 5 songs each week.
There is a YouTube link for each of the songs on the cover, and here are the playlists for each streaming platform:

Deezer (coming soon)
Guest of the week: Gilles S
Kia ora everyone
This is Gilles, I’ve had the privilege to know Thomas since birth, literally, as I’m his younger brother!
I’ve been living in New Zealand the past 4 years and recently moved to Western Australia, currently cooking in the southern summer heat. I’m a volcanologist for a living (though currently living the glorious unemployed life) and other hobbies include dangling off ropes rock climbing or highlining and beating Thomas at backgammon!
To be honest, NZ and WA are not the most exciting places music-wise (the amazing outdoors makes up for it!!), but I lived a few years in Montreal (best city in the world in my totally biased opinion) and Bristol where there is live music on about every night!
No particular theme for my 5 songs, some all time favourite, some recent discoveries, I hope you find something to your taste!
1. Snarky Puppy – Lingus
Probably the most influential band on my music journey! It’s pretty tough to choose one song from their 15+ albums, so I just went with what is probably their most famous, and also super typical of their style: recorded live with loads of musicians and extensive improvisations! Sort of a giant semi-organized jam that sounds great. Also the track features Cory Henry’s potentially most famous keyboard solo!
2. Busty and the Bass – Tryna find myself
The Montreal cool kids, horn section, electro beat, groovy as! This is the first song that I heard from them, they released a couple of albums since, all equally as good!
3. Moop Mama – Geliebte
A Munich based brass band who offers some cool rap over punchy horn riffs! They mostly got famous for their impromptu live performance in the streets/parks/underground of the city. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to see them live yet, but would love to! This one specific track also features Fatoni, another Munich born and bred rapper/actor.
4. Z Fabulous Orchestra – Vati Mutti
A 10-piece French band, mostly based in Paris but who spend most summers hitch hiking and busking around Europe. The guitar player is a good mate from high school and I got to see them live for the first time last September: so much energy, the whole place was jumping around, and I probably lost 5 kg in sweat alone! They’re meant to release their first proper album this year so keep your ears out!
5. Tim Minchin – Prejudice
An Aussie one to finish off, blurring the lines between music and stand up comedy! Growing up in the non-English speaking world, I only discovered Tim Minchin last year and was amazed by how good of a performer he is (whether you like the humour or not)! The lyrics are witty, which makes you forget that he’s actually a great piano player!.
🎧 5 songs I listened to this week
Algers - Cold World (ft Nada El Shazly)
The breathteaking Atlanta based post-punk / post-industrial / groovy activist band. I saw them live in London this week and they literally rocked the place. Featuring a amazing guest vocalist.
PJ Harvey - The River
Beabadoobee - Last Day On Earth
A lighter tune here, with West Londoner Bea’s bedroom pop hit which I randomly got on repeat this week as well.
Chelsea Wolfe - 16 Psyche
Gorillaz (ft. Little Dragon) - To Binge
Until the next time, Godspeed!
Thomas
