This Week's Playlist #53 - Guest feature: Pedrolito
TL;DR: I'm running a musical newsletter with a new guest sharing 5 songs each week.
There is a YouTube link for each of the songs on the cover and here are the playlists for each streaming platform:
Youtube Music (coming soon) -
Tidal (coming soon)
Deezer (coming soon)
Hello everyone!
First and foremost, happy 2023 :-)
All the best for this new year. Love, health and all the most excellent things :-) Also plenty of music (I’ll be helping you with that :-))
Quick update from my side: I’m changing slightly the format of this weekly newsletter for this year :-)
I will have a different guest each week, with very different tastes (in an admirable way) who will be sharing 5 songs they love. And then 5 songs from me of what I’ve been listening to lately, in the same style than we’re used to:-)
Also there is a new playlist and I’m starting to use Apple Music on top of Spotify. Tidal, Youtube Music and Deezer people, your link is coming soon.
I hope you will enjoy.
Guest of the week: Pedrolito
The first guest of the year is an old friend of mine, from my Parisian life, through a common friend and our shared love for the 90s NBA. His musical tastes are completely different than mine, in a style which I’m really not familiar with (you will see :-)) I’ve always been fascinated by these music genres which I have no understanding of the codes, and the high level of energy that transpires, so I asked him 5 great songs for a complete tropical-bass-music beginner :-)
Pedrolito is an Argentinian DJ, party organiser, radio host and a real Reggaeton, Dembow Dominicano, Latin Trap and Cumbia lover. For several years he lived in Mexico where he developed his love for Latin American music.
He is the co-creator of and has been resident DJ for Muevelo parties in Paris since 2011. He’s played alongside the likes of Ms Nina, Tomasa del Real, King Doudou, Los Rakas, Pablito Mix, Villa Diamante, Rosa Pistola, Uproot Andy, and Dengue Dengue Dengue amongst others, as well as opening for Daddy Yankee, Sean Paul and Nathy Peluso. As a DJ, he has been invited to several venues in cities such as Mexico, Miami, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, London, Berlin, Brussels, Lisbon, Madrid, and Barcelona to name just a few.
He is also active in radio as host, DJ and show producer for Rinse France (Paris) and resident DJ for Kiosk Radio (Brussels).

🎧 What I’ve been listening this week
For the first edition of 2023, a quick selection of my favorite albums of 2023. Most of them have been highlighted at some point last year but here is a nice refresher of their 2022 delivery.
AA Williams - Hollow Heart: Probably my favorite album of the year. “Minimalist songwriting with elements of classical, metal and post-rock.”
Brutus - Victoria: Another of my favorite records this year. Highly energising. Definitely worth seeing on stage
Little Simz - Heart on Fire: A new (and unexpected) new album of the London based hiphop. It got released in December but I enjoyed it a lot to make it in the list :-)
Nils Frahm - Right Right Right. The newest album (and shortest track of the album) of the neo-classical genius
The Gathering - Pulse Of Life: The dutch progressive rock pioneers are back with a very textured and soundscapy album
Until the next time, Godspeed!
Thomas
