A guest from my former Armenian life for this week.

Guest feature: Vardan P.
Vardan is the drummer of Bambir, an Armenian rock band from Gyumri. Spanning 4 decades, the band has moved into its second generation- as in, sons (the singer) of the original band.
I saw them live multiple times when I was living there in 2006/7 (before Vardan joined the band) and multiple times after. Their live performances have always been highly energizing.
We stayed in touch over the years between Paris, London, Dublin and Yerevan, and I'm hoping to catch them on stage in 2024 :-)
This week's playlist is a broad selection from Vardan's rotation.

Just rediscovered them recently, and I can’t get enough!

All Them Witches - Am I Going Up?
I heard about these guys, thanks to KEXP live sets. I love the vocals and the overall mood.
3. Which song reminds you of Home?
Tool - Eulogy
Growing up in Vanadzor, I had the luck to borrow cassettes from a friend. Tool's Aenima was in my player for many months.
4. Pick one of your guilty pleasures?
José Feliciano - Feliz Navidad
5. Pick your favourite song from an impressive band you saw live
King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man
I saw them in l'Olympia in Paris. Wow, what a drum circus!
6. What is your favourite song from a movie soundtrack?
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand
