This Week's Playlist #108 - The Hip-hop edition with Adrien B.
This week, Adrien is sharing some of his hip-hop favourite songs.
Hello everyone!
This Week's Playlist - Season 3, Episode 4.
If you've been reading this newsletter for a while, it may have appeared to you that I'm listening to a lot of noisy and raging music :-)
So, for 2024, I decided to open this newsletter to other styles. I'm starting with hip-hop, with an old friend from Paris sharing some of his rotation.
Thank you Adrien and see you all next week!
TL;DR: I'm running a musical newsletter with a new guest sharing 5 songs each week.
There is a YouTube link for each of the songs on the cover, and here are the playlists for each streaming platform:
Guest feature: Adrien B.
I am a former director of digital marketing at a record label and the founder of Merci Au Revoir, a strategic and creative agency close to the trend laboratory with a pop culture D.N.A.
I listen to a lot of music. Really, a lot. From bossa nova to reggae, through jazz. But also, especially hip-hop, which completely shook my life when I fell into it.
1. ElGrandeToto - WELD LAADOUL | A COLORS SHOW
The Moroccan artist returns with an album and a track perfectly executed on this Colors. El Grande Toto rides the beat and takes us into his world between rap and singing.
2. Nate Dogg - Music and me
The Moroccan artist returns with an album and a track perfectly executed. El Grande Toto rides the beat and takes us into his world between rap and singing.
3. Mobb Deep - Shook Ones, Pt. II
The slap in the face I got as a teenager when I heard this track for the first time! The beat and the flow reeks so much of the street, and it's superbly well done.
One of my favourite tracks.
4. PNL - A l’Amoniaque
A very cinematic song and a video directed by Kim Chapiron (one of the French movie directors from the "La Haine" generation) – incredible. A new way of conceiving music and a turning point in French rap with this style of singing.
5. Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy
A classic among classics, it is impossible to make a hip-hop selection without including this track from Notorious B.I.G., simply a masterpiece.
