This Week's Playlist #107 - The Endless Greyness 2024 edition
5 songs fort your grey winter days
Hello everyone!
This week’s playlist S03E03 :-)
Another recurring episode for this week, with 5 songs for setting the mood for your grey, cold and bleak winter days in the Northern Hemisphere (especially here in London).
I hope you enjoy it and see you next week.
TL;DR: I'm running a musical newsletter with a new guest sharing 5 songs each week.
There is a YouTube link for each of the songs on the cover, and here are the playlists for each streaming platform
1. Alessandro Cortini & Daniel Avery - Illusion of Time
Mostly known as the live keyboard player for Nine Inch Nails, Alessandro Cortini is an Italian composer, musician and instrument builder (famous for tinkering with analogue synths).
Here is a piece with Daniel Avery - very instrumental, almost still in the cold.
2. Low - Lullaby
Low was an American indie rock band from Duluth, Minnesota, formed in 1993 by Alan Sparhawk (guitar and vocals) and Mimi Parker (drums and vocals).
Low's music was characterized by slow tempos and minimalist arrangements. Early descriptions sometimes referred to the band's style as a rock subgenre called "slowcore".
3. Mayssa Jallad - Markaz Azraq
Mayssa Jallad is a Beirut-based bilingual singer-songwriter, architectural researcher and teacher, born in 1990.
Her work deals with highly personal as well as political topics. Her first solo album, "Marjaa: The Battle of the Hotels", explores the histories of urban battles that occurred before she was born, during the Lebanese Civil War, told through the eyes of her personal atmospheric folk music.
4. Bohren & Der Club Of Gore - Texas Keller
The Jazz Noir band from Germany are the perfect soundtrack for a dark winter night walk in the city.
5. Air - Universal Traveller
The infamous French electro-pop duo is closing this week's playlist.
A song from one of my favourite albums from them, Talkie Walkie (2004).
Until the next time, Godspeed!
Thomas
