This Week's Playlist #27 - The "Best albums of 2022 so far" edition
Week #27: The "Best albums of 2022 so far" edition
TL;DR: I'm running a weekly newsletter with 5 songs and a short description, and a matching Spotify playlist if you want to subscribe.
For the non-Spotify readers, there is a Youtube link for each of the songs on the cover.
Week 27
Hello everyone!
Happy month of July, everyone (sunny and boiling here in Europe).
We are halfway through the weekly playlist marathon, and I thought I would take this week's playlist selection for digging through albums released in 2022 that I may have missed so far.
I hope everyone is having a lovely summer so far.
Horace Andy - Safe From Harm
The latest album of the dub pioneer over the last 50 years. Here with a personal rendering of Massive Attack's classic.
Full album: Midnight Rocker
Alexisonfire - World Stops Turning
The return (with style) of the Canadian post-hardcore (ex) cool kids, after 13 years of silence.
Full Album: Otherness
HEALTH - Isn't Everyone (feat. Nine Inch Nails)
A collaboration album from the industrial-rave-dance-punk, with the finest of the hip-hop, electronic and metal scene. This particular song, featuring Nine Inch Nails, sets the tone for the album with a bleak / grim sound and vocals.
Full album: DISCO4 :: PART II
Melt Yourself Down - Pray For Me I Don't Fit In
Another record I discovered while digging reviews for this newsletter. A frantic melting polt of punk-jazz with a high dose of world music influences, such as afro-jazz and Latin American beats.
Full album: Pray For Me I Don't Fit In
Kendrick Lamar - Mother I Sober (ft Beth Gibbons)
A very moving closing track of another masterpiece from perhaps one of the most proeminent music artist of the decade. (Mea culpa, it took me until this week to listen to this album).
Full album: Mr Morale & The Big Steppers
Until the next time, Godspeed!
Thomas
