This Week's Playlist #4 - The Endless Grey edition
Week #4 - The endless grey edition
Hello everyone!
Thomas' weekly playlist episode 4! Another week, another 5 songs coming for you.
I'm adding more people every week. You can catch up with the previous episodes: week1 + week2 + week3. I've also started to use Mailchimp so I can make these emails look better (and add art works) :-)
TL;DR: I'm starting a weekly newsletter with 5 songs and a short description of it, and a matching Spotify playlist if you want to subscribe.
Today is a grey playlist to relate to the grim London weather this week and the mood that most Londoners usually relate to in January; this year is no exception.
Nils Fram - Them: One of the most poignant crying pieces of the trendiest piano players of the last 10 years. This track is from the Victoria movie OST, which he composed a couple of years ago, but most of his albums are absolute gems. I'd recommend Spaces, or All Melody especially.
Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Angels Standing Guard' Round The Side Of Your Bed: A Silver Mt. Zion is an offshoot of the behemoths Godspeed You Black Emperor. Very post-rock, as you can imagine, with but with a mere punk spirit, vocals and violins conveying the infinity of the snowy landscape from Quebec. If you enjoy it, their album "This is our punk rock" is another gem (though with very long songs :-))
Loscil - Holding Pattern: Another Canadian musician (from British Columbia). Ambient electronic music
Ane Brun - Lullaby for Grown-ups: The very delicate voice of Ane Brun is also perfect for accommodating the wintery grey evenings. Her Norwegian roots surely.
Nine Inch Nails - Every Day Is Exactly The Same: The song title being completely on topic :-) Not the grimmest NIN song (and also from one of the more mainstream albums)
That's all for now. Thanks for reading until here. I'll be more upbeat next week :-)
Hit reply and let me know what you think of these songs
Until the next time, Godspeed!
Thomas
